Many of the few high net worth individuals with information on opportunities Canadian government is offering are already taking advantage.

Besides, it is now a worldwide trend that majority of this class of people whether in China, UAE, South Asia and now even Nigeria, seek to obtain second citizenship since they realize they cannot rely on one single passport in today’s world.

But be careful of cheap scams, as very few specialized immigration lawyers have experience in assisting in these complex and important immigration processes.

He explained that some of the attractive programmes to Nigerian high net worth individuals include: Quebec Immigrant Investor Program which was created in 1986.

He said that this program leads to Permanent Residency in Canada, adding that people with over 1.600.000 CA$ net worth can qualify if they are in management positions.

He added: “This programme is about to re-open on August 31, 2015. It should remain open until end of January 2016, but could be suspended earlier if maximum quota is met. Required investment of 800,000CA$ that can be financed by Canadian Financial institution.”

Tétrault explained that its benefits include children enjoying great education system with 100-90% rebate compared to international students; excellent free health care system; quality of life; business opportunities; unconditional permanent residence leading to Canadian citizenship among others.

The second programme is the Employment-Based Program which has been in operation since 1992. According to him, this leads to permanent residency ( equivalent of green cards in USA). “This programme will lead to permanent residency.

The focus is that the required investment must be able to create minimum 10 jobs per investor.

We currently see a peak of applications as the required investment is scheduled to increase from 500,000USD to 800,000USD for files submitted after September 30, 2015. The process of this programme is fast and straightforward.

Listing its benefit to include possibility to live, work, study in United States of America, USA, settle anywhere in the country, and a major pathway to USA citizenship.

The other investment programme is the Antigua & Barbuda. It leads directly to citizenship through purchase of real estate for minimum 400,000USD as the investor makes income from foreign real estate investment.

With over 130 visa free countries, this Commonwealth passport is a privileged option for people looking for passports to make their travels less cumbersome.

According to him, the passport is issued in  three to four months, visa-free travel to more than 130 countries (UK, Schengen region, Hong Kong, Singapore and many more), with huge opportunities to tax reduction.

Rolling out his profile, Tétrault said: “As a Canadian lawyer and since 2002, I have helped over 1,000 business people and their families, from over 60 countries, into getting permanent residency in North America (Quebec, Canada and U.S.A.).

I feel very sorry each time I talk to victims of scams and fraudulent / incompetent so-called immigration representatives, but I feel proud that JTH experienced lawyers with innovative approach and their commitment to the market they serve, can be there to assist the High Net Worth Individuals seeking ultimately second citizenship.

“From my office in Montreal, I have started to have Nigerian clients from 2010 in collaboration with HSBC Bank which would market the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program and retain me as the lawyer in charge to represent and assist their clients.

When HSBC decided to shut down its operations in Nigeria few years ago, I was confronted with the choice of following HSBC footsteps, but instead I decided that I would not let my clients go and opted to continue and even enhance my presence in Nigeria by opening a permanent office in 1A Fola Osibo street, off Adebayo Doherty Road off Admiralty Way, Lekki 1; Victoria Island, Lagos. www.jthlawyers.com

With an office in Lagos and working my way towards obtaining Nigeria citizenship, as dual citizenship is a must for anybody that travels. What I want for my clients is same as I want for myself: avoid having to request visa to travel to any country, enhance social status and broadening business options.

Time is of essence for any person considering immigration by investment. We invite High Net Worth individuals seeking for immigration flexibility to contact us with no further delay. (Vanguard)
