SLAN Hails Prof. Adeyeye's Appointment As Director

The leadership of the Student Leaders Alliance of Nigeria (SLAN) has praised the appointment of Prof. Mike Adeyeye as the director of the Centre for Distance Learning, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

The International Coordinator of the group, Oluwasheyi Babaeko who gave the applause in the United Kingdom, quoted Winston Churchill - "I am easily satisfied with the very best"- while commending the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Bamitale Omole over the development.

Babaeko noted that the step was taken at the right time as he hailed top echelons of OAU for putting a round peg in a round hole by approving the appointment of Prof. Mike Adeyeye.

The former OAU student leader and master student at the University of Leeds, UK also said the appointment was indeed one of the best thing to happen to Great Ife.

The congratulatory letter stated in part: "Allow me to express the warmest and most sincere

congratulations of the leadership of the Student Leaders Alliance of Nigeria on the appointment of Prof. Mike Adeyeye as the Director, Centre for Distance Learning, OAU.

Considering the great qualities Prof. Adeyeye possess, we are convinced that during his mandate, the centre's successes will continue to grow further.

Wishing you success in your new duties, please accept once again our best wishes and highest respect", Babaeko concluded.

Prof. Mike Adeyeye has held several positions in OAU. He was the Head, Department of Local Government Studies, and an erstwhile Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Administration before taking up the job of the Deputy Director of the Centre for Distance Learning- a post he held until his appointment as the Director.

Babaeko recounted Adeyeye's legacy and said he had no doubt that his appointment would have a positive impact on the centre and OAU as a whole.

The young erudite scholar, however, extends his congratulations to the incumbent Head of Local Government Studies department Prof. F.O. Fagbohun, students and staff of the department, friends, associates and families of Prof Mike Adeyeye and the entire OAU community.
