30 Egyptian Doctors Arrive Kotoka International Airport, Ghana

The Egyptian Agency of Development of the Arab Republic of Egypt has dispatched 30 medical doctors to Ghana to assist their Ghanaian counterparts to provide care to Ghanaians.

The initial 15 doctors arrived in Ghana on Saturday, September 5, 2015 on request of the Ministry of Health, Ghana, and will assume medical duties for a duration of two weeks.

The team is made up of three surgical consultants, two dentists, a dentist specialist, an orthopaedist, a urologist, a pulmonologist, a gynaecologist, two internal medicine consultants, a microbiologist and a cardiologist.

The doctors who will be complementing the efforts of their Ghanaian counterparts will be distributed across the country to provide the needed care for Ghanaians.

The rest of the 15 will also serve a period of two weeks.

Minister of Health Alex Segbefia, receiving the doctors at the Kotoka International Airport, said their arrival into the country to support the health sector is to enhance the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

'We are grateful for the diligence and the effect of what you do with regard to the healthcare of the people of Ghana,' he said.

Mohamed Heider, Ambassador of Egypt to Ghana, said the arrival of the doctors marks the start of the long-standing relationship between the two countries.

'We will work to strengthen this relationship we know that our doctors will prove that they are brothers to the people of Ghana and based on the reports we will see how to collaborate for the benefit of our people,' he said.

The doctors will be sent to Ho, Cape Coast, Yendi and Tamale government hospitals.
