Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Sunday reacted with a denial to a media report that he asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019 – saying he is free to contest another election.
A former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Mr. Obasanjo, Alex Nwokedi, was said to have made the comment on behalf of the former President in an online publication.
In the online publication, Nwokedi was reported to have said Obasanjo warned President Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.
However, in a statement made available to journalists, Obasanjo, while describing the comment as spurious and destructive, said the last time he communicated with Nwokedi was three years ago,
